How can I troubleshoot common router connectivity and internet issues step by step?

Answer:
Router connectivity issues may occur due to configuration errors, temporary network interruptions, or hardware-related factors. You can troubleshoot common router problems by following these steps:

  1. Check that the router and modem are powered on and all cables are securely connected.
  2. Restart both the router and modem to refresh the network connection.
  3. Verify whether your internet service provider is experiencing an outage.
  4. Confirm that your device is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network with the correct password.
  5. Observe the router indicator lights to identify connection status.
  6. Test the internet connection using an Ethernet cable to rule out wireless issues.
  7. Review router settings such as IP configuration, DNS, and security protocols.
  8. Update the router firmware if an update is available.
  9. Reduce wireless interference by placing the router centrally and adjusting Wi-Fi channels.
